Nimini (54 km2)

Multiple gold targets across highly prospective EPL

  • Seven hard rock gold targets identified in EPL, two more on boarder
  • 4km x 0.5km gold and base metal anomaly identified by EEC Survey
  • EPL hosts extension to the high grade Komahun gold deposit
  • Artisanal gold mining active across all main drainages
  • One of the first gold fields to be discovered in Sierra Leone
The Nimini Gold Property, Sierra Leone

Mano’s 54km2 Nimini EPL lies over a zone of major shearing and folding coincident with extensive gold anomalies and mineralization, in the central portion of the Nimini Hills greenstone gold belt. Nine primary gold targets have been identified from satellite imagery, photo-interpretation and mapping, for further investigation to rapidly move towards drill testing.

The Nimini EPL is situated on the eastern flank of the Nimini Hills. Streams draining the area have been worked for gold by artisanal methods for many years. Satellite interpretation defines a zone of major folds and shear zones, with the potential to host significant gold deposits. Specifically the LBK (Bakuya-Levuma- Kambada) shear zone, defines an almost continuous >100ppb gold anomaly and strikes north/south in the EPL. The LBK is considered to be the most prospective host to significant gold deposits within the Nimini gold fields.

The overall structure of the Nimini Hills is approximately synclinal with marginal thrusting in response to refolding of the original structure which also produced a widespread axial planar foliation. An EU funded stream sediment and geochemical exploration programme was undertaken over a wide area of the Nimini Hills between 1989-92. A map of the follow-up work indicated that:

  • part of the Komahun prospect (drill intersect of 4.9m@7.8 g/t and trench of 1.98m@70g/t) and its potential NE extension lies within Mano’s licence

  • two main zones anomalous in gold with co-incident copper anomalies exist, namely a southern 1,000m linear anomaly with gold values of 1-1.8 g/t Au (within wider 0.5 g/t zone) and a northern zone consisting of a 2km by 500m gold anomaly in excess of 0.5 g/t

Mano anticipates that follow up work on the seven priority gold targets identified to date, will rapidly lead to at least one if not several high interest drill targets.
